Tea Total, Part Two: Afternoon Tea Outfit Ideas

Originating from the upper class British, afternoon tea has become incredibly popular, yet still retains its status as one of the most regal and elegant dining occasions. Hosted by some of the world’s most beautiful hotels and restaurants, such an activity requires an appropriate outfit choice, encompassing all that is chic and glamourous. If you’re looking for the best afternoon tea in London, see Tea Total Part One. Once you’ve decided, take your pick from these afternoon tea outfits!

LOOK ONE

Nude is a great base colour if you’re searching for a look that is effortlessly chic and feminine. Think floaty blouses, tailored shorts and minimalistic accessories for an easy, wearable look. This tailored bouccle jacket and Ted Baker bow polo are great with these scallop hem shorts and nude accessories.

LOOK TWO

My obsession with cigarette trousers is far from over, and they are perfect for these types of looks. They’re flattering, especially when worn with a heel, and are instantly so much more elegant than jeans. These grey jacquard trousers from Next are really pretty (and come in a range of colours), and the ‘colour of the season’ white jacket and cami are great for summer. I actually wore this outfit to a recent afternoon tea at Limewood Hotel in the New Forest, which was really really gorgeous. The grounds are beautiful.

LOOK THREE

If you’re feeling fancy, afternoon tea can welcome the need to wack out your fave dress from the back of your wardrobe. You know, the one you bought for your friend’s wedding which you would “so totally wear again” and haven’t had the chance yet! Ted Baker dresses are all so lovely, and their prints are innovative and unique. While not a print, this gorgeous pale blue pencil dress is the perfect base for a polished look. Teamed with this floral scarf and white accessories, its a winner!
