Swimwear Trends for Summer 2018

Swimwear trends this year found the forgotten comfort zone between unnecessary extravagant embellishments and last year’s minimalist lines.

If you are planning on stepping close to a large body of water, please read on as we help you to look your best this Spring/Summer 2018.

  • The Long Stripe

Runways this year mixed the freshness of color with the classic lines of stripes. Some designers like Blue Life went bold with its unforgiving horizontal stripes while Issa De Mar and Maaji used this tried and tested pattern to create flattering angles in their designs.

We love that this pattern was executed extremely well for both, two and one-pieces.

For all you ladies looking to give yourself a quick nip and tuck without going under the knife, this one-piece creates curves, even when there aren’t any, to begin with.

We bet, you already own a striped bikini or two but give yourself the 2018 update by grabbing this colorful two-piece which would look sublime with that tan of yours- even if it’s from a bottle!

  • Velvet Fever

Designers are having a moment with Velvet, from seeing gorgeous evening dresses to casual snapbacks, it was everywhere for Fall/Winter 17. We thought we had seen enough of this bad boy but guess not because this fabric is being turned into a year-round staple.

We question the practicality of an all velvet swimsuit but are a complete sucker for the subtle insert panels of velvet seen on this star-studded one-piece . The softness added by cutout mesh design really does melt our cold string bikini loving heart.

If you are in the mood to stay out of the water and slay, this two-piece will let you do just that.

  • Belt and Buckle

Swimwear trends for 2018 really focused on breaking the mold with most designers opting to use conventionally heavier embellishments and fabrications. Somehow every one of these craftsmen magically turned these cumbersome details into a playfully light adventure for beachwear.

Try this trend by adding this high-waisted bikini bottom to your collection and easily pairing it with a casual string top.

Explore the 90s inspired roots of this trend by opting for this one-piece. We love the openness of the back which gives this design a beautifully natural juxtaposition

  • Matchy Matchy

The majority of last years swimwear trends focused on running away from symmetry and matching prints. This year, it is the complete opposite and runways were filled with monochromatic looks.

We love that the designs showcased not just identical separates, which quite frankly isn’t really groundbreaking, but instead took it to another level by finishing it with the same cover-up to really hit the nail on the head.

While grabbing a three piece matching cover-up and bikini set sounds fabulous, our ever so empty wallets scream something else.

Save some money and instead of focusing on buying an identical swimsuit and cover-up just buy a printed two-piece coverup that you can mix and match with all your solid swimsuits, from your monokinis to thongs.

  • Print Paradise

From your favorite peach emoji to 70s tye dye, everyone had a place on the Spring/Summer 18 runways. We love the explosion of print everywhere.

Rather than copying this trend word to word, we recommend taking the essence of it to make sure you and your swimsuit collection doesn’t feel overwhelmed.

Pair a solid bottom ( heck, why not even the belted bottom mentioned above) with a halterneck bikini top.

Or get ready to turn heads and drop jaws by opting for this intricately mixed detailed one-piece. We love this one in particular because not only is the print on-trend but is also extremely forgiving and will hide away that pre-game pizza you just devoured.
