Keep Calm and Carry On: Stylish Carry-on Bags

Written by Zoe Cuthbertson

Before ‘totes’ was a term teenagers used to abbreviate the arduous nature of the word ‘totally’ it was a word used to describe bags with long handles you ‘tote’, or carry. When it comes to carry-on (otherwise known as the clothes we couldn’t fit into our checked luggage) a tote is always a winner and here’s a few must-haves to see you through security in style.

Alexander Wang Pelican Weekender Tote:

Simple, elegant and chic, this Wang creation will never want to leave your shoulder. For the fashion-forward jet setter there is no other route. This one-stop-shopper is sure to hold all of your excess baggage (ex-boyfriends not included).

ZARA shopper basket:

The shopper basket is the good-looking younger cousin of the sell-out shopper bag. This is a tote with a lot of structure that holds it all – but with no compartments you may find yourself holding up the line at customs digging for your passport. This high street find has been seen on the arms of a-listers and fashionistas alike, so grab yourself a bargain and spend the money you save on cocktails by the pool.

ASOS Shearling Backpack:

If a back pack is more your thing, carry this beauty next time you travel. Back-packs are making a serious comeback, and make a practical solution to carry-on without the strain. The only drag is that you have to remove it every time you want access, but how could we say no to this cosy little cutie? Baa.

Celine Cabas Phantom:

Sleek, modern and available in a delectable pallete of colours this Celine bag screams international traveller. Fashion bloggers are reffering to it’s expanding centre as it’s ‘wing-span’, quite fitting for the bags travelling capabilities. The love-child of both the phantom and the cabas designs, this It-bag has been blessed with classic genes, and, well, if it’s good enough for Miranda, then I con-kerr.

Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton:

A must-have list would not be complete without a Louis Vuitton carry-all, but this sensational beauty is a fresh take on the Vuitton classic. The luxury goods brand enlisted the talents of film-director Sofia Coppola to create what Marie Clare describes as the ideal carry-on for the ‘professional nomad’. Designed by the multi-talented American, this bag is the pinnacle of timeless beauty. Wherever you are in the world we assure you this bag won’t get Lost in Translation.
