Acting Kind of Shady: Sunglasses Styles 2013

The sun is finally starting to show its face as summer comes around, which means its that time of year again; time to grant your sunglasses pride of place as a key component of your daily look.

Choosing the perfect pair is essential though – the right shape will really flatter your face, but get it wrong and you’ll look like you’re a model for one of Eastenders’ market stalls.

Here are some of our favourite sunglasses styles for 2013:

Style 1: Aviator

Aviators flatter almost any face shape, and look effortlessly cool and laid back. These are perfect for festivals, daytime wear, and sunning yourself by the pool on holiday. Pick them up for a bargain in Topshop and H&M, or splash out with a treat from Michael Kors or Marc Jacobs.

Style 2: Wayfarer

It’s no secret that Rayban do the Wayfarer best! They come in a variety of colours, lens sizes, and patterns, and look chic and stylish with tousled waves. Wayfarers are ideal for those with round faces, but can be dangerous on those with square faces, so make sure you try before you buy.

Style 3: Cats Eye

2013 is the year of cat style sunglasses – oval shaped with pointed corners at the temples. These look great on long faces and those with angular square faces. River Island have some great pairs, as do Ralph Lauren and good old Asos.

Style 4: Round Vintage

Topshop is full of these vintage styles at the moment, you know the ones, they look a bit like your Grandad’s reading glasses, or what a scientist would wear. That said, if you’re lucky enough to have a face that suits them, all you need is a floral sun dress and Hunters and you instantly epitomise Glastonbury glam. If you have quite a wide face, these can make it look even broad, and avoid them if you have a particularly round face – you’ll need to have a delicate, angular face to pull these off, like Whitney Port, and of course, make sure your eyebrows are freshly shaped, as there’s no hiding them in these tiny frames.
